In 1851, German immigrants settled land previously belonging to the Seneca Native American tribe and expanded the boundaries of Williamsville. Through the centuries, the neighborhood grew to become a large farming community with historical architecture - several homes and buildings are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Glen Falls Art Festival has been an Williamsville tradition since 1961. Artists and crafters come from all over the United States to celebrate their craft with other artists, residents, and tourists in Williamsville.
