Elmwood Avenue Festival of the Arts celebrates local Amherst artists in all forms. The festival hopes to bring awareness of Western New York’s artistic treasures and encourage the surrounding community to support the arts. The festival features food trucks, dancing, and special Children’s Festival with workshops and classes.
Did you know Buffalo has been named the Dyngus Capital of the World? This lesser-known holiday is celebrated after Lent and honors Polish heritage and culture. The Dyngus Day Festival features a ten-block parade, endless pierogies, and kielbasa dishes, and brings in over 10,000 people to the streets of Historic Polonia to dance, eat, and celebrate Polish culture and traditions.
The Taste of Amherst Festival is the largest two-day food festival in the United States. The award-winning festival began in 1984 and brings in over 450,000 people! With a mission to bring diverse, affordable food options to residents of Amherst, the festival is free to attend and showcases the many unique and incredible restaurants of downtown Amherst. The Allentown Art Festival has been an annual Amherst tradition for 65 years. The show brings over 20,000 people to the Allentown Historic Preservation District to browse artist stands, purchase unique works, and attend workshops and presentations. The festival is one of the longest-running and most respected art shows in the nation and features the work of over 400 artists each year.
